Juan Emilio Cheyre es fundador y Director del Centro de Estudios Internacionales de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile desde 2006. Posee el título de Doctor en Ciencia Política y Sociología por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid (2002) y Master en Ciencia Política mención Relaciones Internacionales por la Universidad Católica de Chile (1998). Fue Comandante en Jefe del Ejército de Chile (2002 y 2006), máximo grado en la carrera militar. Hoy es Profesor Asociado Adjunto de la Facultad de Derecho de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile y conferencista en Chile y en el extranjero en temas tales como Derecho Internacional, Globalización, Defensa y Seguridad, Transición a la Democracia, Diplomacia, entre otros.

As of July 2006, Juan Emilio Cheyre Espinosa is the Founder and Director of the Center for International Studies (CEI-UC) of the Catholic University of Chile. Cheyre holds the title of Doctor in Political Science and Sociology, issued by the Complutense University of Madrid (2002); he is a Master of Military Sciences by the Academy of War of the Chilean Army (2002) and a Master in Political Science with a mention in International Relations by the Catholic University (1998). Prior to founding the CEI UC, Cheyre acted as the Commander in Chief of the Chilean Army, reaching the highest possible honor of an extensive military career (2002-2006). Today he is also a professor and lecturer in many universities and seminars, both in Chile and other countries, in subjects such as International Law, Globalization, Defence and Security, Transition to Democracy, Diplomacy, Global Economy, among others.
